Working fathers and work-life balance

Parliament is due to open an inquiry into working father’s work life balance after research found nearly half of working fathers would like a less stressful job to spend more time at home with their children. The Modern Families Index report found one in five working fathers were doing extra hours and a third felt ‘burnt out’. There are fears a “fatherhood penalty” could be created following the “motherhood penalty” where working mothers are indirectly discriminated against in their career progression due to making their home life a priority.
