Review into the “Gig” Economy & Modern Working Practices

The Independent Review of Employment Practices in the Modern Economy has announced they will be gathering evidence on the UK’s labour market on a regional tour.

They will be paying particular attention to workers in the “gig” economy and the rural and manufacturing sectors.

The review will consider the implications of the new models of working and how employment rights are working in practicality for both employers and workers.

Please read Pam Loch and Chris Phillips’ article on the explosion of the “Gig” Economy featured on International Workplace in January 2017 for a better understanding of the working practice.

We will be watching this review closely for its implications for Employment Law, workers and employers.
